Disclaimer, this book will give you all the feels!
Such a sweet and creative way to look at how the younger generation truly shapes the world. I personally have never seen a book written like this and I just fell head over heels for it. My daughter loves the illustrations, she has to kiss every baby in the book, it's the sweetest thing.
This book follows the stages of growing up. From a baby taking their first steps to standing up to a bully in school. The author added some amazing people in this book. This book shows how every step in a child's life shapes them for when they are older.
The author starts out by saying, "We say our first words, We use our voice for equality." There is the sweetest picture of a mom playing with her baby on the floor, all the feels right?! Right below that picture states this, "Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan have worked to ensure all are treated fairly under the law." This picture shows the three women. It is such a cool way to show how important all these milestones are, they really shape your littles life. It also makes you wonder what your child will be doing when they grow up.
One of my favorite pages actually taught me new information that I didn't even know. You can learn so much from a children's book. I say it all the time. "We draw a picture all by ourselves. We create a memorial with others. First displayed in 1987, the AIDS Memorial Quilt honors the thirty-two million lives that have been lost to HIV/AIDS." There is a little boy coloring up top and then pictures of the quilts down below. I can honestly say, that is something I was shocked to see in a book because it's not talked about enough so I appreciate the author putting new information in this book. I love learning along with my three year old.
This is such a fun book for little kids. They will be able to relate closely with so much in this book. From building with blocks too dreaming at night. The younger generation are the change. They are the future.
"As movers and shakers,
we inquire:
we inspire.
As artists and activists,
we persist;
we resist.
As dreamers and doers,
we believe;
we achieve.
How you move just might MOVE THE WORLD!
